Capitol Hardscapes was founded in 2002 and is a fully licensed and insured contractor specializing in residential, commercial, and institutional masonry hardscape installation. We proudly serve Washington, DC, Southern Montgomery County, Northern Prince George’s County, and Northern Virginia.
Our boutique firm was built on the principles of thoughtful planning, research-driven solutions, durability, and efficient execution. Every project is completed with an exceptional level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. We specialize in the custom design and installation of residential driveways, steps, walkways, retaining walls, patios, pool decks, drainage systems, lighting, and outdoor living spaces, utilizing the latest materials and construction techniques. Our experienced commercial division focuses on rooftop green spaces, pedestal pavers, and streetscapes.
Chris Scango, Co-Owner and Founder, helped establish Capitol Hardscapes in 2002 and leads sales, design, project implementation, and overall customer satisfaction. With 25 years of hardscape experience, Chris has been part of some of the largest commercial projects in the DMV area, including hardscape buildouts at BWI Airport, the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, and Arlington National Cemetery.
Christy Scango, Co-Owner, joined the company in 2010 and oversees business development, human resources, and marketing. She brings more than 25 years of marketing experience, having worked with leading organizations such as Discovery and SiriusXM.
John Scango joined Capitol Hardscapes in 2005 and serves as Head of Operations and Maintenance. He is the lead project manager for large residential projects and oversees the commercial division. John has spent most of his adult life in construction management.
Our long-tenured team includes:

- Peter Lozano, Crew Manager & Commercial Job Site Superintendent, with 22 years at Capitol Hardscapes.
- Luis Benitez, Residential Project Manager, with 20 at Capitol Hardscapes.
